Argentina Coast Guard has issued Ordinance ZARA HE. 6 N°: 040/15, which will become into effect on May 15th, announcing the creation of 2 waiting and anchoring areas in Zarate which will be regarded as extensions of Zona Comun and will serve as roadsteads for vessels proceeding towards the upriver ports.
The area will be comprised by:
* Vessels will have to request the anchoring place by written at the Zarate coast Guard 24 hour in advance and count with a designated agent in Zarate (In Alpemar, we count with our OWN branch office in Zarate)
* In order to be authorized to anchor in the area, the vessels will have to be issued a berth assignment letter by the loading terminal which will have to have an "estimated berthing date" no longer thatn 72 hours after the intended anchoring date in the area.
* Vessels will not be allowed to stay in the area for more than 72 hours.
This will allow for a shorter waiting time at Recalada, being able to coordinate pilots to proceed directly to Zona Comun and continue to Zarate roads (subject to anchoring places availability) thus saving around 8 hours of navigation time.
Pilots are still to advise how this navigation will be regarded and how many river pilots will be needed to proceed from Zona Comun to Zarate anchoring and waiting area and from there to theupriver ports, since the pilots exchange area is Zona Comun.
