Due to actions taken by the National Government regarding the deregulation of water transport and the fishing sector, currently being implemented through Decree 340/25, titled "Exceptional Regime for the Merchant Marine", which began with Decree 37/2025, "Regime of Maritime, River, and Lake Navigation", modifying REGINAVE to pave

the way for deregulation efforts now being applied.

In addition to serving business interests that attempt to promote a 30% salary cut for fishing sector workers, the government is also suspending prospecting in national waters.
