Tonight we have another case of grounding on mentioned area (a little south of San Nicolas port roads)
m.v. BEATRICE (IMO 9430818) ran aground at Km 343 of Parana River completely obstructing new navigation channel. Coast Guard is allowing the use of the old channel without restrictions so there is no interruptions on the navigation through the river.
She loaded at General Lagos berth, in Rosario port, about 40.000 mts (Maize+sbm) and was sailing downriver bound to Yemen with a draft of 10.5 mts.
Since local Coast Guard changed the designated main channel to sail through the area (earlier this month) already 4 vessels ran aground when entering such channel. Fyg it was previously considered a secondary channel used for barges and small vessel's of up to 8 mts draft until recently dredged, as per pilots advice it may not be properly waymarked.

m.v. CELSIUS MIAMI (Ran aground on April 21st 0410hs at Km 341 - Refloated on April 21st 1450hs)
m.v. BEATRICE (Ran aground on April 23rd 2320hs at Km 343 - Still aground)
