Yesterday, Argentina's Senate finally approved, by a vote of 47-6, the bill that would declare June 17th as a new annual Non-Working Public Holiday in Argentina, to commemorate the Anniversary of the death of General Martín Miguel de Güemes ("Conmemoración del fallecimiento del general Martín Miguel de Güemes"). This new holiday will affect the normal operations since it will be necessary to considerate as overtime the loading/discharging operations and with related costs. Even more, next June 20th will be a National Holiday, too (National Flag's Day), so we'll have a VERY LONG WEEKEND, meaning that operations overtime will last as from June 16th (Thursday) at 1800 / 1900 hrs LT (depending on port) until June 21st at 0600 / 0700 hrs LT (Idem). Note: Saturday morning shift (June 18th) will be considered Normal time for Upriver ports. Necochea & Bahia Blanca ports will be overtime. General Martín Miguel de Güemes was a military leader and popular caudillo who defended northwestern Argentina from the Spanish during the Argentine War of Independence.
