Due the current dredging works being performed on Mitre Channel, all vessels proceeding from upriver Parana ports in laden condition will have to anchor in the nearby area of Escobar in order to wait the dredger IBN BATUTA stoppage and reopening of the navigation.
For the reason that many of these anchorages will take place in the Escobar area, where the anchorage spaces are limited, and vessels have to be turned from upstream (anchorage) or downstream (turned and sailed) occurs in restricted waters, the Parana river pilots association has taken the recommendation to have the assistance in these maneuvers of one (1) tugboat in order to perform the turning and increase the safety of same.
Vessels with less the 140 meters LOA are excempted of the usage of one tugboat.
This recommendation has enterd in force as from March 1st at 00hs and will last until dredging works in Mitre Channel are concluded.
