September 07th++++Pls note that the National Sanitary Guard, authority in charge of issuing Free Pratique to vessels coming from overseas, has opened their San Lorenzo port office last Friday. The Sanitary Inspector in charge of the office advised that they will visit each and every vessel before anybody is allowed to board. To that end, they will be using the boats belonging to the San Martin Stevedoring Cooperative, who has not issued their costs per trip yet. Also, they advised that the Preventive sanitary fumigation of accommodation spaces will continue to be compulsory for all vessel proceeding from African countries and that the inspectors will board the vessels 4 to 6 hours after the fumigation in order to carry out the sanitary inspection and grant Free Pratique. In conclusion, it is expected that vessels could suffer delays due to the availability of boats (there is only one available) and inspectors plus any extra delay for vessels proceeding from Africa, and there will be charges for boat use which can not be determined yet due to the unavailability of boat fees from the San Martin Stevedoring Cooperative.
