Pls note that Farmers Associations around the country went to strike on August 24th at 0000 hrs and will continue until next Friday Aug 28th at 2400 hrs.
A week-long protest by three of the four largest farm lobbies of the country began, with road blocks in several key routes across the country and no sales from several grain and cattle owners, as a protest against the government’s agricultural policies. Protests have been condemmed by the government, which has had a tense relationship with the Rural Socierty (SRA), the Argentina Farming Confederation (CRA) and the Coninagro co-operatives Federation for years. The Small Farmers Federation (FAA) did not back the move, following months of improved dialogue with state authorities, which raised subsidies and reduced taxes on small-scale producers of milk and grain. The strike will consist on not selling any grains and they will establish controls at the main roads of the country in order to prevent any truck carrying farming products from reaching their destination.
We will follow the developments and keep you updated
