Nidera Fertilizers berth

Date: 01/09/2015

Please note that Nidera Terminal opened up its Northern berth during last August, which was being built since 2007. Despite there was no official info disclosed by Terminal's authorities, we could find out fllwn relevant info:

These works are complementary to the construction of two storage cells Nitrogen, Phosphate and Potash Fertilizer of 140,000 Mt, surrounding the plant production of vegetable oils whose duplication of milling capacity is already in full swing. The construction also includes a dock of 120 mts lenght x 15 mts width. They also installed a Liebherr shore crane over rails of abt 25 Mt. Discharging of fertilizers takes place using the shore crane plus a vessel's one.
In case vessel was gearless, they use the shore crane only. As we pointed out above, there is no official info. So, there are no specifications nor particulars to be sure of regarding limitations of vessels' LOA and others. All cases must be submitted to Coastguard and they will apply a particular criteria over each situation allowing or not vessel's operations. In any case, we must present a note in Letterhead before Coastguard stating vessel's particulars and operation (loading/discharging), and Coastguard will revert with an Official Regulation detailing needed requirements for each particular vessel.
So far, these are the only two vessel that have operated:

m.v. APISARA NAREE - Discharged 7.000 Mt Urea - Berthed: August 22nd at 0412 hrs LT// Unmoored: August 26th at 1010 hrs LT
m.t. SONGA EMERALD - Loading 15.000 CSBO - Berthed: August 30th at 1730 hrs LT // Still loading.

Estimated max LOA: abt 190 mts (subject to Coastguard's authorization)

Berthing maneuvers may request one tugboat assistance in case grain berth was occupied.

Unmooring maneuvers need two tugboats assistance in any case.

All these regulations are informed by Coastguard for every particular case.

We'll keep you posted.
